Etihad Airways Baggage Policy & Infant Rules

Etihad Airways has reached a great level in very less time. This tremendous growth in small time span is really awesome. It is successfully competing with the other airlines that are on top from years.

As we know, there is different baggage allowance for each airline. If you have booked flights to India  with Etihad then you must be aware of the baggage policy and restricted items by the airline. If someone does not follow the guidelines they have to pay high fine.

Check out the baggage policy of the Etihad Airlines which you must know before flying with them:

Cabin Baggage Allowance: Cabin baggage means you can take this bag on-board containing the items that you may need while traveling. There is weight and size limit depending on the class of travel.

For Economy Class:

  • Maximum baggage dimensions for an economy class passenger is 115 cm (40 cm x 50 cm x 25 cm) and a personal item with maximum width of 30 cm, height 40 cm and depth 15 cm.
  • Maximum weight of the cabin bag is 7kg and personal item is 5kg
  • You can bring one piece of cabin bag per passenger and one laptop/ handbag

For Business Class:

  • Maximum cabin baggage dimensions for a business class passenger is 115 cm (50cm x 40cm x 25cm) and personal item must be maximum (30cm x 40cm x 15cm )
  • Maximum weight of the cabin bag is 12kgand 5kg for personal item.
  • You can bring one piece of 2 cabin bags per passenger and one laptop/ handbag

For First Class:

  • Maximum cabin baggage dimensions for a business class passenger is 115 cm (50cm x 40cm x 25cm)for a
  • Maximum weight of the cabin bag is 12kg and personal item is 5kg.
  • You can bring one piece of 2 cabin bags per passenger and one laptop/ handbag

You can also bring additional bags weighing up to 32kg and must be shorter than 300cm.

Checked-Baggage Allowance: It is the baggage which you have to check-in. It is not accessible during flight.

  • For Economy Class:An economy class passenger can bring 2 bags with maximum width of 50 cm, height 70 cm and depth 38 cm of 23 kg.
  • For Business Class: A business class passenger can bring two checked baggage of width 50 cm, height 70 cm and depth 38 cm of 32 kg each.
  • For First Class:A first class passenger can bring two checked baggage of width 50 cm, height 70 cm and depth 38 cm of 32 kg each.

Rules for Passengers traveling with Infants: Passenger who travels with infant, toddler, and children below 18 years has extra benefits provided by Etihad Airways.

  • Children, up to two years or 24 months, are not required to have their own seat but, passengers are only allowed with one lap child only per adult.
  • In case, an adult want to travel with more than one infant under the age of two, then they have to purchase a second ticket for the infant.
  • Passengers can purchase a seat for the infant if he has the proper child restraint device.
  • A child up to two years or 24 months is generally charged 10% of an adult fare plus the taxes.

Personal Items you can carry with Etihad:

  • Clothes and toiletries
  • Infant clothes
  • Infant food
  • Briefcase or a wallet
  • Umbrellas and walking sticks

Prohibited Items by Etihad Airways:

There are items which you can or cannot carry on board or in your checked baggage. Some items can only be carried with conditions, or need prior approval. Items that are considered dangerous or restricted are explained below:

Wheelchairs You can bring your own wheelchair for free in addition to your checked baggage allowance. The height and weight of the wheelchair should not exceed 120cm and 60kg.
Dangerous good and chemical Acids and alkalis, Disabling sprays, Radioactive material,  Poisons, Fire extinguishers, Fireworks, flares and other pyrotechnics. 

 

Rules for Flights to or from the US:

If you’re flying to or from the USA to India then read following instructions:

All electronic devices must be charged and you may have to switch them on to show the security person:

  • Electronic devices such as loose or spare batteries, power banks, e-cigarettes, e-pipes or other personal vaporizerscan be carried in your cabin baggage and are not permitted in checked baggage.
  • Powder substances weighing 350ml/350g/12oz or greater are not allowed in cabin baggage and must be placed in your checked baggage.
  • Medically-prescribed powder substances, including baby formula and cremated human remains are exempt from these regulations.
