Republic Day is celebrated to remember the day when the constitution of India officially came into force. It was the 26th Jan 1950 after which every year Republic Day of India is celebrated on this day.

On 15th August 1947, India got freedom from British rule after a long struggle. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru delivered the speech on ‘Tryst with Destiny’, declaring the independence of Indian citizens.

But, the freedom was not complete due to the lack of any official Constitution. Thus, India was a constitutional monarchy under the rule of King George VI even after Independence.

It took around 2 years, 11 months and 18 days to complete the Indian constitution. On 26th January 1950, this constitution came into force. India was declared a sovereign, socialist, secular, democratic and republic on this day. After India turned into republic G. V. Mavlankar become the first Speaker of the Lok Sabha.

Moreover, the parade consists of the showcase of weapons, combat vehicles, and a dramatic airshow that seems appealing to the observers.
